
Fading Away
Faded Away is an abstract 2D arcade game. I drew inspiration from Jordan Magnuson's game "Loneliness". It is based on my own feelings and emotions, and how I function as an individual. I am hoping that this relates to other people and they realize that they are seen and understood. I want to give my players a sense of connection and reliability; comfort in knowing that they are not alone in their experiences. It follows my own life as I navigate helping others when they feel low.

Faded Away is based on my personality. I tend to help others at the expense of myself. No matter how it affects me or how I feel, I always help others. However, I feel like I lose myself the more I help others at the expense of myself until I don't know who I am anymore, and I lose my "spark", or "color". It feels like I fade away from existence until I can take some time to myself. I can't seem to change this personality trait, and helping others seems like a choice I don't have. I am obligated to do it, and it seems like a role I have to fulfill. However, seeing other people thrive and do better or be happy because of me or something I did tends to stick with me more and almost makes it worth it. It may make me happy in the beginning, hence the happy yellow/orange background, but it slowly makes me drained and sad, hence the gradient to blue.
